Eli's turn to mow--Aug. 20, 2011

It was time for Oliver to mow again, and this time Eli decided he needed to mow also!

Two mowers work better than one??

Soccer season has begun!--Aug. 20, 2011

Oliver started another season of soccer this weekend! This is a new league, however, he has the same great coach as he did for the last couple of seasons, and even a few of the same teammates.

Eli watching the game. I was able to take this photo during the 1.4 minutes he actually sat in his chair during the game. The rest of the time, he was trying to run onto the field or just away!

Eli and Clifford--Aug. 18, 2011

Recently, I got out some of my Clifford books to show Eli and he now loves Clifford! He's never been interested in the TV version, but he loves the "Cifford" books! I also bought him a Clifford stuffed animal that he now sleeps with!

First day of 2nd Grade!--Aug. 15, 2011

Oliver was very excited to start school again! At his Meet Your Teacher night, he found out that a couple of his good friends were in his class this year. His school is so big (at least compared to my own experience) and I'm so thankful that he knows, and feels comfortable with so many kids. Even though he might be a little nervous to start something new, he always seems to take it in stride. I'm so proud of him for that! Because in this case, the apple DOES fall far from this tree!

And he's off to 2nd grade!

Oliver mowing--Aug. 13, 2011

Oliver has been begging for the last little while to mow. For some reason, he thinks it's fun! Last Saturday, Pat decided to let him give it a try...which made me slightly uneasy. Somehow I wasn't sure that a 7 year old and a mower made the best pair. However, Pat showed him all of the parts of the mower, where the blades were, and what to do, and Oliver actually did a very good job!

Filling the mower with gas

Here we go!

Seriously?? My little baby is really old enough to do this?

One very proud boy!

Eli and the DSi--Aug. 12, 2011

Eli thinks that he needs to do EVERYTHING that Oliver does, including playing Oliver's DSi (a little hand-held gaming system.) He has absolutely no idea what he's doing, but boy does he think he's hot stuff!

Curly, curly!--Aug. 11, 2011

The night before these pictures were taken, our A/C went out at home. Thankfully, it was one of the few days this summer that it was ONLY 100 degrees outside, so our house became a sticky 85 degrees inside. Anyway, I can always tell when Eli has been sweating, because his hair starts to curl!

If any of you know my side of the family, when Eli's hair is curly, Julie calls him "Little Uncle Mel." :)

Food can be used for much more than eating--Aug. 9, 2011

I don't know why, but lately Eli has been smearing, smashing, rubbing, or wiping his food all over himself while he eats. I had already removed this piece of cheese from his head several times, but I finally gave up and just took a picture!

I guess cheese wasn't enough...snap peas needed to be added to his hair, as well.

Oliver and Eli relaxing--Aug. 8, 2011

I found Oliver and Eli just hanging out, watching TV the other day. We had just finished lunch (Eli had smeared strawberry jelly all around in his hair, hence the wet hair from a quick bath) and I thought they looked so cute together!

I guess Eli decided he was finished sitting and decided to roll off the chair instead of climbing off. FYI...I caught him right before he hit the floor. That's right, I'm that quick. :)

Why does this bother me???

I know this really isn't a big deal, but one of my posts is out of chronological order and I don't know how to fix it! I just posted my photo book that I made of our trip to Tennessee, and it really should be after my post about Tennessee, but it's not! This really bugs me...I'm such a perfectionist/dork!

Oliver and Eli--August 2, 2011

Eli has recently figured out how to crawl up on Oliver's bed, which is a loft bed about 5 feet off of the ground! Let's just say I'm not thrilled with his accomplishment.

Anyway, this morning I was in the kitchen and realized it was too quiet, and found both of the boys up on Oliver's bed!

What a couple of goofs!

Oliver's paintings--July 13, 2011

This summer Oliver took several painting classes and these are a few of his paintings! They are all on large canvases, so our walls are filling up quickly!

His interpretation of "Sunflowers" by Van Gogh

Water park in Hesston--July 9, 2011

One evening when Pat was working, I took the boys to Hesston. Since it was SO HOT, just like EVERY other day this summer, we went to the water park with Grandma and Grandpa.

July 4, 2011

We spent July 4th over at the Matt and Michelle's. The big boys are ready for some fireworks!

This face pretty much sums up Eli's opinion of fireworks.

We tried covering Eli's ears with Oliver's "ear protection," but he still wasn't a fan.

Eli eventually gave up and fell asleep, despite the loud bangs and booms!

Bandana Boy!--July 3, 2011

Oliver's idea...enough said.

Oliver's new bike--July 2, 2011

Oliver has been begging for a new bike for a long time, but especially after our Tennessee trip where he rode Kate's bike, we figured it was time to get him one!

Oliver checking to make sure he can do wheelies on his new bike!

A Day With Cousins--June 28, 2011

We spent the day up in Lindsborg at Julie and Darren's, along with Annelise, Logan, and Mia, and Rachel, Caroline, Olivia, and Natalie. Wow! That's a lot of kids!
